I was looking for a solo adventure but was nervous about travelling alone and all the planning that would be involved. I heard James in an interview on Today FM and decided to take a look at the website. I booked the trip to China that day, 1 year and 3 months in advance so I couldn’t change my mind. Before the trip, I was still nervous about how I would get on with a large group of strangers halfway across the world but meeting so many of the group at the training weekend put my mind at ease. Straight away you could tell how lovely and diverse the group were going to be. The information given before the trip was excellent, both from Barbara through email and Louise on the training weekend and it really helped me be prepared. And then came the trip itself. I could talk for hours about this but even at that, I don’t think I would be able to properly describe how amazing it was. The group were fantastic and we had so much fun together, even our local guide, Oliver, shed a tear when he had to say goodbye to us! The sights and experiences we were privy to shall never be forgotten. We got to see so many sides of China and its people, from the manic bustle of Beijing to the complete silence and solitude of walking on the Wild Wall where you can feel like the only people on the planet. If you are looking for the adventure of a lifetime, whatever your “trekking” ability you could do no better than Earths Edge, and hopefully you will be lucky enough to have Louise as a leader, she is seriously good craic, so much so she can get the grumpiest of bus drivers to smile at her!
