Overview

The aim of this course is to teach you the skills needed to move safely on a wide variety of mountain terrain. These skills include; movement on snow and ice with axe and crampons, rope work, the choice and construction of snow and rock anchors, building winter belays, winter navigation and avalanche awareness. All these techniques will be taught while exploring the beautiful landscape Scotland has to offer. We are based out of Fort William for five nights and will select routes based on the conditions at the time.  The course is ideal for those who have little or no previous experience in winter conditions. It has been designed to prepare people for expeditions such as Elbrus, Mera Peak, Island Peak, K2 Basecamp, Aconcagua and Kang Yatse II.

Please note that if the weather is not in our favour, we will organise indoor rock climbing, scrambling, bouldering or indoor ice climbing in the national ice climbing centre.
